I am passionate about coaching and coach development and spend time training coaches and supervising and mentoring them at different stages of their professional coach journeys.
My recent assignments include coaching executives in the Mining and Resources, IT, FS, Education sectors. Coaching Engineering Managers in a growing global tech company; supporting the CEO and leadership team of Ed-tech business to grow beyond start-up phase. Coaching senior government officials improve their impact and effectiveness.
I have always been inspired by George Bernard Shaw’s famous quote:
“I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work, the more I live. I rejoice in life for its own sake. Life is no ‘brief candle’ to me. It is sort of a splendid torch which I have a hold of for the moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it over to future generations.”
By hard work, I imagine Shaw did not mean the busy non-stop work that is a feature of our modern technologically driven, WFH world but rather work that is as challenging as it is life giving. Finding work that inspires me and those I coach is deeply meaningful to me.
ABOUT ME:
I live in the shadow of Table Mountain in Cape Town South Africa. I am an avid gardener, body boarder, wildlife enthusiast, and yoga practitioner. Other than working, spending time with my husband, son, family and friends, traveling and reading are my favourite things to do. I have enjoyed a diverse and successful career across continents and cultures, and have made some tough choices as a businesswoman and a mother, without always knowing how these would work out.
Prior to establishing my coaching practice, I worked for more than 15 years in senior leadership roles in Financial Services and Management Consulting in South Africa, the UK and Europe. I was a founding member of an e-commerce startup in early 2000 and have successfully run my own business for a number of years. As a result, I have empathy for what it means to lead across cultures in today’s complex and ever changing world.
My clients describe me as someone who is intuitive, insightful, warm, empathetic, encouraging and challenging, who creates space for them to go deeper and move forward at the same time. I like to think I bring a balance of depth and rigour, with creativity and pragmatism; a lot of heart with a lot of head too; directness with compassion.
